My first visit to Crufts 2018 was bigger and better than I could have ever imagined. I was also chuffed to bits that I managed to achieve one of the goals I had written about last week in my blog ‘My Dreams for 2018’ , which was meeting Clare Balding!
Over the years I have attended lots of trade shows from the software to print industry and most recently motorcycles. In terms of size, Crufts 2018 was by far one of the biggest exhibitions I have attended in the UK. There was everything you could ever imagine needing or wanting for your doggie. My first mission though was to find Clare!
Meeting Clare Balding and Alan Carr
I didn’t have much luck in asking the Organisers with helping me to seek out Clare, but I am sure they are inundated with requests to meet her. However, being told ‘no’ only makes me more determined! I headed to the Main Arena and found the large black curtain behind which all the filming was taking place. With a little bit of negotiation and sheer luck, Clare turned up as I was hovering (with intent!). I gave the the Clogau Dog Lover’s Dream charm gift set and she asked me to return for photos once she had had her hair and make up done.
Upon returning for a piccy with Clare, I also spotted the hilarious Alan Carr. We had a chat, I handed him my book and had a photo with him too. I feel very fortunate to have met both of these dog loving celebrities and hope they enjoy the gifts.

Crufts Podcast
Whilst wandering the various halls at Crufts 2018, I spotted an enclosed stand which said BBC Radio on the outside. The door was slightly ajar, so I popped my head in. I explained to the two gentleman that it was my first visit to Crufts and mentioned my poetry. They offered to do an interview with me, which would then be uploaded as a podcast on the official Crufts channel. And for those of you who fancy a listen, here’s the link to it on iTunes:

This is my first ‘interview’ and I’d love to hear what you think. I’m keen to do more with Podcasts so let me know what dog-related topics you think I should cover! Please do Contact Me with your thoughts for this and any hints and tips.
Well that’s all for now, take a look at my Facebook page, if you’d like to see more pics and to keep up with what Alfie and I get up to.
